Calculation of Numbers, Currency, Length & Weight, Computer Data Storage

Calculation of Numbers:
The common number system in use is Decimal number system. In this system we use ten symbols each representing a digit. These are 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9.

For example, the number 12972235, we read it as: One crore twenty nine lakh seventy two thousand two hundred and thirty five.

It is represented as shown below:
Calculation of Numbers
In the above number,
The place value of 8 is (5 × 10°) = 5
The place value of 9 is (3 × 101) = 30
The place value of 6 is (2 × 10²) = 200 and so on.

Note: for billion and Trillion
There are 1000 millions in a billion
There are 1000 billions in a trillion
That means there are 1000 × 1000 or 1 million millions in a trillion
Therefore,
10,00,000 is one million
100,00,00,000 is one billion
1000,00,00,00,000 is one trillion

Calculation of Length and Weight:
The Length and weighting system is divided into the given sequence
Millimeter (mm), Centimeter (cm), Decimeter, meter (m), decameter, hectometer, kilometer (km)
Here,
10 mm = 1 cm
10 cm = 1 decimeter
10 decimeter = 1 m
10 m = 1 decameter
10 decameter = 1 hectometer
10 hectometer = 1 km
Therefore,
(10 × 10 × 10) mm = 1000 mm = 1 m,
(10 × 10) cm = 100 cm = 1 m,
(10 × 10 × 10 × 10 × 10 × 10) mm = 1000000 mm = 1 km
(10 × 10 × 10 × 10 × 10) cm = 100000 cm = 1 km
(10 × 10 × 10) m = 1000 m = 1 km and so on.

Note: The weighting system is also like the length system, just instead of meter, it will be gram. So the weighting sequence will be
Milligram, centigram, decigram, gram, decagram, hectogram and kilogram
In SI unit system i.e. in MKS system, the length is measured in meter (m), weight is measured in kilogram (k) and time is taken as second (s).
So, the table bellow shows the SI unit system standard multipliers
Calculation of Length and Weight
For example:
(10 × 10 × 10) gram = 1000 gram = 103 gram= 1 kilogram, or, 1 kg = 10−3 gram

Calculation of computer data storage:
The basic unit used in computer data storage is called a bit. 8 Bits is equal to 1 Byte.

Bit: A Bit is a value of either a 0 or 1.
Byte: 1 Byte = 8 Bits
Kilobyte (KB): 1 KB = 8,192 Bits,
                            1 KB = 1,024 Bytes
Megabyte (MB), 1 MB =1024 KB
Gigabyte (GB),    1 GB = 1024 MB
Terabyte (TB),     1 TB = 1024 GB
Petabyte (PB),     1 PB = 1024 TB
Exabyte (EB),      1 EB = 1024 PB
Zettabyte (ZB),    1 ZB = 1024 EB
