SSC JE EXAM: JUNIOR ENGINEERS (CIVIL, MECHANICAL, ELECTRICAL, & QUANTITY SURVEYING & CONTRACT) EXAMINATION

Staff Selection Commission generally held an open competitive Computer Based Examination for recruitment of Junior Engineers in the month of December every year, Group ‘B’ Non-Gazetted posts in the Pay Band of Rs.9300-34800/- plus Grade Pay Rs.4200/- (pre-revised).
The recruitment notification publishes in the month of October.

Age Limit: The age limit for SSC JE exam is different for different categories. See the table bellow for age limit of various categories. The upper age-relaxation limit is as per Govt. Norms.

Scheme of Examination:
The exam consists of 2 papers, Paper-I (Multiple Choice questions) and Paper-II (Conventional Type).
Paper-I will consist of Objective Type Multiple Choice questions only. Candidates who are shortlisted on the basis of performance in Paper –I will be called for Paper-II (Conventional Type).
Scheme of Examination for SSC JE
In Paper-I and Paper-II for General Engineering, the candidate will be required to attempt for his respective discipline.
In other words, the candidates appearing for the post of Junior Engineer (Civil), Junior Engineer (Quantity Surveying & Contract) should attempt Part A (Civil & Structural) of Paper-I and Paper-II and the candidates appearing for the post of Junior Engineer (Electrical) should attempt Part-B (Electrical) and the candidates appearing for the post of Junior Engineer (Mechanical) should attempt Part C (Mechanical) of Paper-I and Paper-II failing which his/her answer sheet (Paper-II) will not be evaluated.
There will be negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer in Paper-I. Candidates are, therefore, advised to keep this in mind while answering the questions.
